Cole Quest & The City Pickers Music Videos

I’d always wanted to make an animated music video, but it seemed like a huge undertaking so I never actually did it. Then, about six months into quarantine, my friend Cole reached out to see if I’d be interested in making a music video for his band, Cole Quest & The City Pickers.

The City Pickers new album, Self [En]Titled, was coming out and Cole was looking to make a video for one of the singles, Way Over Yonder in the Minor Key. In the end, I made not one, not two, but SIX music videos for The City Pickers — a video for each song on the album. I learned a ton, got way better at organizing my After Effects comps, and had a ton of fun. You can check out all six videos below.

To create these videos I drew pictures on watercolor paper with Prismacolor markers (the best markers!), scanned them, cut them out in Photoshop, and animated them in After Effects. I also listened to these songs literally hundreds of times and can confirm that I did not get sick of them. This album is freakin’ fantastic. Highly recommend!
